Wooster Celebrations and Programs

Wooster Celebrations and Programs

At Wooster we feel that student celebrations are important to the development and motivation of student success!  We do our best to recognize students as often as possible.

Student on the Month: The first Friday of each month, Wooster recognizes their students of the month.  Each classroom teacher chooses a student who has displayed positive character traits and exceptional citizenship.  The students are recognized and rewarded at our Spirit Day Celebration.  We love for our parents to come and celebrate with us on that day.

Word of the Month: We have a school-wide character word of the month.  This word is revealed at our Spirit Day Celebration.  Students are awarded with being the "Student of the Month" based on their display of that character trait throughout the month.

Award Ceremonies:  An awards ceremony is held each nine weeks to recognize each unique student academically. Our goal is to make sure every student receives an award sometime during the school year. Parent notes are sent home prior to this day and we always encourage our parent to be here if possible.

Birthday Recognition: Birthdays are celebrated the first Friday of every month. Students celebrating a birthday during that month wear a birthday sticker to the cafeteria where they are given a special treat.  June and July birthdays will be celebrated with another month when we get back.

Other Programs:

Back Pack Program: We send back packs home with students in need of additional support with food. We have food drives throughout the year and welcome food donations at any time.

Giving Tree Program: The program helps students with their basic needs as well as Christmas gifts. When students are in need of school supplies, field trip money, shoes or clothing we have contacts that are willing to help the students.

Watch Dog Dad Program: Dads of Great Students focuses on safety and education in our school by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures to provide an unobtrusive fathering presence and to provide a positive and active role-model for students in the school. Fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers and uncles are asked to spend at least one day at the school volunteering. Please come by and sign up any time!
